Nintendo Admits Dissappointment By Their Own Conference

For those of you who watched this years E3 conference, you will probably agree that Nintendo’s conference was not all that great. Well, in their quarterly finance review, Iwata admitted that the press conference was unimpressive stating:

“As for the media briefing at E3, of course we had many internal discussions after that. Honestly speaking, none of us at Nintendo thought that our presentation at E3 was as good as it could have been. It is apparent that we could not fully convey the charm of our products.”

I do see how it could be hard to convey the charm on things like a heart monitor or James Patterson Games of Passion. Another thing Iwata commented on was the fact that the demonstration for New Super Mario Bros. Wii was not very exciting. ” This year, however, with the New Super Mario Bros. Wii, four people lined up with wii remotes was not a scene that no one had ever seen. Those who actually had the chance to play understood how the game would change with four people playing simultaneously, but we could not address that fun sentiment at the media briefing.”

I think one of the problems with conveying the fun, was the fact they just stood there and played. For me, I felt a disconnect from them. They were more execs than gamers. Iwata said they are working hard to improve on the next E3. With Sony and Microsoft coming out with their own versions of more improved motion controlled, hopefully Nintendo can come out with something big. Sorry Mario, looks like they are going to need more than just you to stay in the game.
