Wii Vitality Sensor To Come Sometime Next Year

In an investor Q&A Iwata discussed the Wii Vitality Sensor release and plans for the software. For those of you who don’t know, the Wii Vitality Sensor is a device to be used in conjunction with the Wii to measure your heart rate in games and things like WiiFit for example. As for the release, Iwata stated: ” [Nintendo] would like to deliver the actual product not too late in the year next year.”

As for the games, Iwata said:  “theme of relaxation, which is completely opposite from traditional ones, to enrich the users’ lives,”  he also mentioned the idea of “measuring how horrified a player is in a horror title” as an example of the application of the sensor.

Now while I personally am not too thrilled for it, I can see how it has a great deal of potential and can open a new way of interactivity in games.
