Wii Vitality Sensor To Come Sometime Next Year

In an investor Q&A Iwata discussed the Wii Vitality Sensor release and plans for the software. For those of you who don’t know, the Wii Vitality Sensor is a device to be used in conjunction with the Wii to measure your heart rate in games and things like WiiFit for example. As for the release, Iwata stated: ” [Nintendo] would like to deliver the actual product not too late in the year next year.”

As for the games, Iwata said:  ”theme of relaxation, which is completely opposite from traditional ones, to enrich the users’ lives,”  he also mentioned the idea of “measuring how horrified a player is in a horror title” as an example of the application of the sensor.

Now while I personally am not too thrilled for it, I can see how it has a great deal of potential and can open a new way of interactivity in games.

I already use games to relax. i don't need a heart rate monitor to help with that.

Eric, I totally agree. Games are relaxing. Nintendo just doesn't get it and they need to refocus on the hardcore gamers and not develop this kind of stuff.

This kind of sensor, that has something to do with medical matters, for it measures the heart rate of players in the game, has potentiometer. Medical apparatus and equipments have a little bit similarities with the features of this sensors. There are so many equipments now that are using potentiometer.
