Every once in a while a game will come along that I don’t know much about but I take a leap of faith and buy it. I had seen a screenshot of Helsing’s Fire on another website and the art style had me very interested so I decided to drop the measly $0.99 and buy it.
I’ve never come across a game like this before in my life and I think that’s great because it shows that developers are still innovating.
Helsing’s Fire is a game in where you place a torch in a specific spot so that it shines on monsters, once it shines on those monsters you tap a colored potion and that potion kills all the monsters that the torch was shining on. Each monster can only be killed by the color potion that matches its own color. So red potions kill red monsters. But to make it more interesting a red monster could have a blue shield around it, so first you would have to use the blue potion to take down that shield and then a red potion to kill the monster. You have to be careful though because if you use a blue potion on a red shield or monster it adds a blue shield to it.
The art style in Helsing’s Fire is also what really sticks out at me. I’m the type of gamer that can have art style alone make a game worth a purchase. This game has a great art style for the iPhone and I think it fits perfectly with the gameplay. HF let’s you jump in jump out so it’s perfect for on-the-go gaming which is what works best on an iDevice.

At $0.99 you can’t go wrong with this game. It’s games likes these that make me fall in love with iPhone gaming over and over again.
Helsing’s Fire is simple to learn but can get pretty difficult as you progress. The bottom line is that its a great game and I highly suggest you download it right now.
