One of the games I really enjoyed getting to see and play at PAX South was Faded, and old school action-platformer with a rather unique twist. In the game, you are fighting to restore color to the world. Each time you complete a level, more color is restored, and you gain new abilities the more colors you restore. You enemies also change based on the order in which you restore the colors, making each gameplay experience unique.
I had a chance to interview Tim Karleskint of Pool Police Games, the studio developing Faded, about the game. Check out the video to learn more.
Unfortunately, it does not look like Faded is going to get fully funded on Kickstarter, though as of writing this article, there is still time. If you would like to back the game, check out its Kickstarter page, where $15 will get you the game and the soundtrack. Faded is also on Steam Greenlight, which hopefully means the game will be completed even if it is not Kickstarted. I have reached out to Tim to see what the plans are in case the game fails, and I will update the article as I find out.
Faded looks to breath some fresh air into the crowded old-school action-platforming genre. Here’s hoping Pool Police Games is able to make the game everything they want it to be.
