Words With Friends
2 CommentsPosted by Patrick Adams on February 3, 2010 under iPhone/Mobile Reviews
Just recently I started craving a good word game. I personally love word games and I've played a few good ones on the iPhone but most of them got old pretty quick. I was considering buying Scrabble but I had heard about this game called "Words With Friends" so I decided to check it out. Words with Friends looks and plays exactly like Scrabble. You have 7 letters which you are to use to make wor... more. -
Guerrilla Bob (iPhone)

Ever since the release of iDracula and Minigore I've been craving a dual-stick shooter that has a "get from Point A to Point B" style of gameplay. Both of these games are great but they are about survival only, similar to geometry wars you have a set area that you must stay and defend yourself in for as long as you can. I wanted something that let me go through a "level" if you will. Guerrilla ... more. -

You ever notice people like nice, defined labels? As much as we like to pretend we live in a world full of shades of gray, we usually see it in black and white. People are Republican or Democrat, Conservative or Liberal, outgoing or introverted. We use these labels because they help simplify the world around us, even if they do sometimes lead to an us versus them mentality. As Gamers, we use th... more. -

We have at least one more year in review podcast coming, but when it comes to these kind of lists, there is one that is expected from every video ga... more. -
HALO on the iPhone?!

Gameloft has released the much anticipated N.O.V.A. (Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance) today and you may notice by looking at the screens below that it looks pretty darn close to that game we know as HALO. I haven't had a chance to play N.O.V.A. yet but if it controls anything like Gameloft's other iPhone FPS, Modern Combat: Sandstorm, I'm sure I will like it a lot. N.O.V.A. is $6.99 and you can get i... more. -
Digital Distribution: Our Thoughts

Digital Distribution is definitely starting to be a new trend in gaming. However, unlike motion controls, I am more apt as a gamer to move with this trend. Digital distribution is not something new to the consumers however. The 360 uses it with movies, even Xbox originals. while there are very successful forms of digital distribution i.e. Steam, it can also be a gamble i.e. PSP Go. So what are our... more. -
Labyrinth 2 (iPhone)
1 CommentsPosted by Patrick Adams on December 7, 2009 under iPhone/Mobile Reviews
I have to admit I've been kind of slacking in the iPhone gaming department. I've been so annoyed by how many un-stellar games there are out there that I've given up on trying to find a game worth playing. Most of the top 25 games are just stupid gimmick games. So believe me when I say I was very excited to see that Labyrinth 2 was a game actually worth playing. One of the first games I ever rememb... more. -

So you may have noticed a slight change to the site. The iPhone section has become m"Mobile." This is something I had asked Patrick to do. Why, you ask? Because iPhone is not the only smart phone out there with games and apps that have helped make it so much more than it is coming out of the box. As a matter of fact, there is one platform that is starting to take the cell phone market by storm.... more. -
Modern Combat: Sandstorm

I've always been longing for a solid First Person Shooter on my iPhone and never have I truly been satisfied. A lot of the FPS games I downloaded were horrible. Not just the controls but the polish and graphics. The FPS on the iPhone was not something that was looking too good, until Modern Combat arrived. I knew that with Gameloft being the developer this game was going to be something different ... more.

Some games are just addicting in a way that really defies explanation. Tetris was that type of game. All we actually did in this game was complete lines, and yet we played it for hours on end. If you think about it, there are probably several different games you could list in this category. Just think of those games you go back to time and time again and yet really cannot explain just what draws y... more.

Why Video Games Are More Than Just Entertainment
3 CommentsPosted by Laren Hawkins on August 12, 2009 under Handheld News, PC News, PS3 News, Retro News, Wii News, Xbox 360 News, iPhone/Mobile News
With all these rumors and talks about Video Games becoming movies, it produces a lot of hype and excitement. As a gamer however, I have a different outlook on it. The Story I have found that some of the best stories are not found in books or movies, but rather Video Games. The fact that you are essentially the character, only adds to the story. With games like Fallout 3, the player makes the... more.

EDGE removed from iTunes?
0 CommentsPosted by Eric Bouchard on May 30, 2009 under iPhone/Mobile News
This is really bad news. Kotaku is reporting that EDGE has been removed from the iTunes App store. Why? Can we say frivolous lawsuit? Turns out there was this old gaming company called Edge Games owned by Tim Langdell. He claims to have copyrighted the word Edge as far as it's use in gaming goes. This is not the first time he has forced a company to change it's name. Remember when Soulcaliber ... more.
