Helsing’s Fire (iPhone)
0 CommentsPosted by Patrick Adams on July 19, 2010 under Reviews, iPhone/Mobile Reviews
Every once in a while a game will come along that I don't know much about but I take a leap of faith and buy it. I had seen a screenshot of Helsing's Fire on another website and the art style had me very interested so I decided to drop the measly $0.99 and buy it. I've never come across a game like this before in my life and I think that's great because it shows that developers are still innova... more. -
Words With Friends

Just recently I started craving a good word game. I personally love word games and I've played a few good ones on the iPhone but most of them got old pretty quick. I was considering buying Scrabble but I had heard about this game called "Words With Friends" so I decided to check it out. Words with Friends looks and plays exactly like Scrabble. You have 7 letters which you are to use to make wor... more. -
Guerrilla Bob (iPhone)

Ever since the release of iDracula and Minigore I've been craving a dual-stick shooter that has a "get from Point A to Point B" style of gameplay. Both of these games are great but they are about survival only, similar to geometry wars you have a set area that you must stay and defend yourself in for as long as you can. I wanted something that let me go through a "level" if you will. Guerrilla ... more. -
Labyrinth 2 (iPhone)

I have to admit I've been kind of slacking in the iPhone gaming department. I've been so annoyed by how many un-stellar games there are out there that I've given up on trying to find a game worth playing. Most of the top 25 games are just stupid gimmick games. So believe me when I say I was very excited to see that Labyrinth 2 was a game actually worth playing. One of the first games I ever rememb... more. -
Modern Combat: Sandstorm

I've always been longing for a solid First Person Shooter on my iPhone and never have I truly been satisfied. A lot of the FPS games I downloaded were horrible. Not just the controls but the polish and graphics. The FPS on the iPhone was not something that was looking too good, until Modern Combat arrived. I knew that with Gameloft being the developer this game was going to be something different ... more.

Some games are just addicting in a way that really defies explanation. Tetris was that type of game. All we actually did in this game was complete lines, and yet we played it for hours on end. If you think about it, there are probably several different games you could list in this category. Just think of those games you go back to time and time again and yet really cannot explain just what draws y... more.

Wordulous (iPhone)

99Games, makers of the popular Wordsworth are at it again with another word game by the name of Wordulous. Wordulous is a word creation game similar to Wordsworth. The object of the game is to spell as many words as you can with the letters you are given. There are three different modes. The first is Practice where you can practice making words without a time limit. The second is Examination wh... more.

Eliss (iPhone)

I had first heard about Eliss from a friend suggesting it to everyone but I was still a little skeptical after seeing some screenshots of the game. From the screens it seemed too complicated and I wasn't really even sure what the game was about. I even late saw a video of it and wasn't sure what was going on. As with most iPhone games I just decided to get it on a whim. I wasn't sure if I would... more.

Updated: Edge (iPhone)

I first heard of Edge from all the hype it was getting over the internet. Anytime I would hear anything about it I would go check it out, whether it was via the appstore or iTunes. Admittedly I was not impressed by just looking at the screenshots. Why is this game getting so much hype, I wondered. It didn't seem like anything that impressive to me. Then I heard a comment from Patrick Klepek at MTV... more.

In Chocolate Shop Frenzy you play a girl who is looking for a job. She stumbles upon an ad in the newspaper for a chocolate shop and decides to try it out. This girl then has to take on the tasks of running a chocolate shop for a year. CSF is a time management game similar to Diner Dash but with a lot more depth. In the beginning you basically just serve the customers chocolate in three ... more.

Touchgrind

The iPhone and iPod touch have quickly become home to a wide array of portable games. Every genre ranging from shooter to puzzle is represented by Apple's mobile device, but a skateboarding game? Illusion Labs' Touchgrind adds a unique twist to the video game genre mostly known by names like Tony Hawk and more recently Skate. The game may be unique, but is it compelling enough to convince gamers t... more.

Zombie Mansion

I always get really excited when I hear about developers that are working on an FPS for the iPhone. The problem is that I am usually disappointed with the final product. I wouldn't call Zombie Mansion a disappointment but it isn't exactly what I was hoping it would be. With all of the great made-for-iphone games out there it seems like first person shooters still have to find their place on the... more.

Paradise: The Beginning

I first heard about Paradise: The Beginning on the Touch Arcade blog. I thought the screenshots looked interesting and it was only $0.99 so I decided to give it a try. Paradise: The Beginning looks and controls very similar to Assault Heroes for the Xbox 360. In Paradise you control a tank that shoots green electricity. Enemies will spawn and come after you and the object of the game is to stay... more.

Ivory Tiles

Ivory Tiles is a very fun tile moving game from Munky Fun, creators of Mung Qi Fun for the iPhone. In Ivory Tiles you are to move tiles into their respective spots by tilting the iPhone in the direction you want the tile to slide. Each level brings something new to the table. Sometimes you will be in control of only one tile, sometimes many. Each level has a perfect score which is the least amount... more.

Dizzy Bee 2

Igloo-Games has released the sequel to their prized game Dizzy Bee by releasing Dizzy Bee 2. Dizzy Bee was always a personal favorite of mine. Don't let the eye-catching art-style and cutesy sound effects of Dizzy Bee fool you, Dizzy Bee is pretty hardcore. The overall look and feel of Dizzy Bee 2 is exactly the same as the previous version. You still tilt to control the round shaped bee and th... more.

Dr. Awesome

Dr. Awesome is a surgery game similar to Trauma Center but not as in-depth. Dr. Awesome is created by ngmoco, creators of the much anticipated yet-to-be-released title, Rolando. With Dr. Awesome, ngmoco brings us a fun and exciting little game but polishes it up to make it seem more than it really is. I went into Dr. Awesome thinking that it was going to be a Trauma Center clone. Once I booted ... more.

Space Deadbeef

Space Deadbeef is an awesome little shooter that I think went under most people's radar. Space Deadbeef, with it's weird name, is a shooter of an interesting nature. You control a spaceship flying through space, similar to Aegis Wing on the 360's XBLA. To control your ship you slide your finger up to go up and down to go down. To shoot you slide your finger over the enemy to automatically select a... more.

2079

First off I just want to say that 2079 is in my opinion the most impressive game I have seen on the iPhone thus far. 2079 is very similar to Geometry Wars in that you control a ship that is confined it a square area. Enemies will spawn and you are to destroy them. The one thing that I love most about 2079 is the fact that it controls perfectly. To control the ship you tilt the iPhone/iPod... more.

Dessert Dilemma

Dessert Dilemma comes to us from Cocoa Touch Games. Following in the wonderful art style that I have come to love Dessert Dilemma is a "block moving" puzzler very similar to the game "Blocked" which is also available for the iPhone. The twist in Dessert Dilemma is that you have to get the dessert free by moving the utensils around the screen. The puzzles get harder as you go along and ther... more.
