Singularity
0 CommentsPosted by Kyle Erwin on August 17, 2010 under PC Reviews, PS3 Reviews, Reviews, Xbox 360 Reviews
Singularity tackles the story arc of what if this nation had this tech at this point in time, and how would that change today's history? There's nothing new there as this plot can be seen in the movie Hellboy, the game Wolfenstein, and so on. So what does Singularity do that separates it from the other first person shooters out there? Singularity has a unique atmosphere and an unexpected series of... more. -

[caption id="attachment_14129" align="alignright" width="215" caption="Bruce Wayne sold us this cool lair, cheap!"][/caption] A wonderful action-RPG, offering the player tons of choice and real-life consequences! Where have I heard that before? This is not a simple Mass Effect game cloned in the James Bond environment, it does have it's bugs and it also has elements that set it apart from t... more.

Have you ever played a game that used your own MP3's? Have you ever wanted to hearken back to Asteroids form the Atari? Did you enjoy Audiosurf, but couldn't help thinking if there was a better way to "play" your music? Have you ever muted Geometry Wars in favor of your own tunes? If you answered yes to any of those, then I implore you to take Beat Hazard for a spin, you won't regret it---... more. -
BLUR

Bizarre Creations has been hard at work at trying to recreate the popular "Power-up" gameplay in there latest project BLUR. While many comparisons ring true about Mario Kart, BLUR isn't just a quick knock off but instead a much deeper experience in certain areas. BLUR's environments screams chaos, and if you didn't know by now the name of the game is to strike your opponents with as many power... more. -
Split Second

As I have mentioned before, I am not a huge racing game fan. While there have been some games that have really caught my attention, I do not tend to anticipate them or even consider buying them on their release date. I did not even buy Burnout Paradise when it came out, and I was a huge fan of the previous game in the series. Why am I starting this review this way? I wanted you to understand ju... more. -
Majesty 2

Tired of the same old base building RTS mechanics? Majesty 2 resurrects an old classic and blows RTS trends out of the water with a great fantasy setting and an interesting twist on the genre. Our review is apologetically, long overdue, but we get down and dirty in Ardania to defend the throne. The Story Majesty 2 unfolds half a century later than the original. The lands have been unit... more. -
Force Unleashed : Sith Edition

Lucasarts takes force manipulation to blistering new heights in this game meant to bridge the gap between trilogies and reveal a secret apprentice of Darth Vader. Ok, so Force Unleashed force jumped onto consoles long ago, but the much awaited PC port, with all the DLC splashed down last holiday season, and we will see if it does the platform justice, or should be tossed in the Sarlacc pit. The... more. -
Splinter Cell: Conviction

Sam Fisher is finally back in the saddle. He has cut his emo hair and thrown his night vision goggles aside. You're hunting people that need to be hunted and taking out anyone who stands in your way, no messing around. It's out with the old and in with the new, gameplay that is. It's Splinter Cell on steroids. It's shoot first and neck snap later. You might still crawl on the pipes and shoot out s... more. -

Pure: the racing game that made people take Blackrock Studios, and by proxy Disney Interactive Studios, seriously. You remember the game, right? Racing on quads, doing stunts to gain points and boost.... Pure put Balckrock on the map and made many people's list of overlooked games in 2008. Well, Blackrock and Disney are back. This time, though, its not about doing tricks; it's about taking your... more. -
Bioshock 2

When the original Bioshock was released in 2007, no one could have expected the level of praise it was destined to receive. Heralded as one of the best single player experiences in gaming history, the game left some awfully big shoes that would need to be filled with a sequel. Losing some of the talent that helped shaped the original also didn't do any favors to the already high level of skepti... more. -
Torchlight

The time has finally come to publish the Everyday Gamers review of Torchlight, and I cannot say enough. I will try not to repeat all of the information I relayed in my preview of this game, but this has been one of the best rides of the past year. The Story Just to recap a little, Torchlight is a hack-n-slash dungeon crawler by Runic games, the same masterminds behind the first two Diablo ga... more. -
Mass Effect 2

It's no secret that Mass Effect is one of my all time favorite games. BioWare created a universe full of action, intrigue and epic battles that made it one fo the best games ever made, RPG or otherwise. The absolutely powerhouse ending left gamers wanting more and anticipating its sequel. Last week gamers everywhere were able to jump back into that universe with the release of Mass Effect 2. Borderlands: Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot

Riding the unheralded success of Borderlands, Gearbox has released Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot for 10 dollars on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network respectively, as well as the PC. The content offers players an arena to engage in combat with increasingly difficult waves of opponents with ever changing game modes and modifications, but does it satisfy the cravings of Borderland junkies w... more. -
Rogue Warrior

I want to be very honest with this review of Rogue Warrior. I played about an hour of it and decided that it was not worth my time to continue. With all the triple A titles that have recently been released I am surprised that Rogue Warrior even made it to stores let alone with a $60 price tag. Games like Rogue Warrior make me wonder if the people who developed the game really even support it. How ... more. -
Left 4 Dead 2

When Left 4 Dead 2 was first announced I was surprised, but I wasn't one of the people planning to boycott the game. Yes, it caught me off guard, but I was excited none-the-less. In my opinion the original L4D was too short and not worth the $60. Yes, it was a really fun game but I didn't think it was a $60 game. Especially if you never play the multiplayer modes. I completed L4D2's campaign ye... more. -
Crysis

By now, the name Crysis is a household name. Anticipation is starting to build for it's sequel that will also be available on consoles, and the reputation Crysis has as a system killer has not faded, even with the advances in computer hardware. That being said, I thought it would be a good time to look back at Crysis and see how it stacks up, scaled back on older hardware. The Rundown Crysis... more. -

Spending my life as a self-proclaimed hater of "first person shooters" (FPSs if you're nasty), I have had to re-evaluate my stance on this genre more and more frequently in recent years. I mean, even though I do see the merit in your Halos and your Calls of Duties, I just don't find myself being attracted to these games like most of the people on my friends list are. But every once in a while alon... more. -
Brutal Legend

You know, I was not really interested in Brutal Legend at first. Granted, Tim Schafer is a brilliant game designer, having made games the defy genres and are considered among the best made, even if they did not sell well. It's just that I am not a fan of Jack Black. Sure, he can be funny when he is reigned in, but he often is not, and I figured with the game being M Rated, he would be allowed to r... more.

Bionic Commando

In 1988, Capcom released Bionic Commando for the NES. It was a side-scrolling action game in which the protagonist, Radd Spencer, used his bionic arm to get him through conflicts behind enemy lines to rescue the imprisoned Super Joe. Bionic Commando was fresh, it was innovative and it's unique mechanic and well told story made it a memorable game from the NES. The story, not unlike Wolfenste... more.

Batman: Arkham Asylum

First, let’s get this out of the way. Batman: Arkham Asylum is an exceptional game worth the price of admission. Your wait for a game that actually makes you feel like the Dark Night himself is over. Doing my best to keep you hidden from spoilers, your trek through Arkham Asylum will have you swinging, sneaking, destroying, bludgeoning and detectiving (wait is that even a word) until the v... more.
