Singularity
0 CommentsPosted by Kyle Erwin on August 17, 2010 under PC Reviews, PS3 Reviews, Reviews, Xbox 360 Reviews
Singularity tackles the story arc of what if this nation had this tech at this point in time, and how would that change today's history? There's nothing new there as this plot can be seen in the movie Hellboy, the game Wolfenstein, and so on. So what does Singularity do that separates it from the other first person shooters out there? Singularity has a unique atmosphere and an unexpected series of... more. -
BLUR

Bizarre Creations has been hard at work at trying to recreate the popular "Power-up" gameplay in there latest project BLUR. While many comparisons ring true about Mario Kart, BLUR isn't just a quick knock off but instead a much deeper experience in certain areas. BLUR's environments screams chaos, and if you didn't know by now the name of the game is to strike your opponents with as many power... more. -
Red Dead Redemption

I had never really played a Western video game prior to Red Dead Redemption, partially because of their infrequency and partially because I lacked the interest in a genre that seemed like it wouldn't hold up as well as the familiar sci-fi and post apocalyptia that dominated the landscape. Compared with the creativity of weapons and enemies afforded by genres spawned exclusively by the artist... more. -
Split Second

As I have mentioned before, I am not a huge racing game fan. While there have been some games that have really caught my attention, I do not tend to anticipate them or even consider buying them on their release date. I did not even buy Burnout Paradise when it came out, and I was a huge fan of the previous game in the series. Why am I starting this review this way? I wanted you to understand ju... more. -
ModNation Racers

I've been looking forward to ModNation Racers ever since it was announced at E3. Originally I thought it was supposed to be a PSN downloadable title but I guess I was wrong. ModNation Racers is basically Mario Kart on the PS3 but with loads of customization. You can customize your characters, your karts, and also build tracks. The options while creating are endless too. As you probably would have ... more. -

Pure: the racing game that made people take Blackrock Studios, and by proxy Disney Interactive Studios, seriously. You remember the game, right? Racing on quads, doing stunts to gain points and boost.... Pure put Balckrock on the map and made many people's list of overlooked games in 2008. Well, Blackrock and Disney are back. This time, though, its not about doing tricks; it's about taking your... more. -
Uncharted 2: Siege Expansion Pack

Last year Uncharted 2 was on a lot of people's Game Of The Year list, and rightfully so. The game is obviously more well known for its amazing cinematic single player and Indiana Jones like story telling. But the Multiplayer surprised a lot of people that were uncertain that it could work, and Naughty Dog has done a great job supporting the online with quality DLC. The Siege expansion pack ... more. -

"People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring".-Rogers Hornsby That's one of my favorite baseball quotes, and as were into another season Sony Computer Entertainment has another baseball game for us and this years is better than ever. Gameplay The best thing about The Show in my opinion is it's life like gam... more. -
God Of War 3

Vengeance is pretty much the only thing on Kratos mind. You can probably guess what he is going to do to the Greek gods he holds accountable for the death of his wife and child. It's going to involve a lot of shouting and gratuitous amounts of blood. You always know where he stands. You're knocking off legendary Greek gods like it's going out of style. Have no misconceptions, God of War 3 is exact... more. -
Assassin’s Creed 2

Nulla E Vero. Tutto E Permesso. Nothing is true, Everything is permitted. The first Assassins Creed was a highly controversial game. Now, it isn't controversial in the traditional sense. People aren't debating political or religious issues, just gameplan and story ones. Assassins Creed will live in infamy as one of the more dividing games in recent history. For every ten people you could find who ... more. -

The Battlefield franchises has always defined tactical warfare combat on the PC and has now managed to take more then a slice of the pie on the consoles. Bad Company 2 follows up the popular first game in the franchise with lots of changes and improvements that help it stand above others first person shooters. Dice has thrown down the gauntlet at the feet of other shooters that would stand opposed... more. -
Heavy Rain

Heavy Rain is an experiment in game design that succeeds in new and exciting ways for gaming but is also plagued with some very unfortunate flaws. It's not a game in the typical sense as players have only some control over a characters actual movement. The game consists of small exploration segments, quicktime events and some walking around. It doesn't sound like an exciting game, or even ... more. -
Bioshock 2

When the original Bioshock was released in 2007, no one could have expected the level of praise it was destined to receive. Heralded as one of the best single player experiences in gaming history, the game left some awfully big shoes that would need to be filled with a sequel. Losing some of the talent that helped shaped the original also didn't do any favors to the already high level of skepti... more. -
PixelJunk Shooter

I have to admit, I am a faithful supporter of the PixelJunk series. I've been a fan of the games ever since Racers so I'm always excited to see whatever game is going to be next in the series. I had been following PixelJunk Shooter ever since the naming competition a while back and was especially excited about the art direction of the game. PixelJunk Shooter is a game in where you control a spa... more. -

Borderlands: Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot

Riding the unheralded success of Borderlands, Gearbox has released Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot for 10 dollars on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network respectively, as well as the PC. The content offers players an arena to engage in combat with increasingly difficult waves of opponents with ever changing game modes and modifications, but does it satisfy the cravings of Borderland junkies w... more. -
Rogue Warrior

I want to be very honest with this review of Rogue Warrior. I played about an hour of it and decided that it was not worth my time to continue. With all the triple A titles that have recently been released I am surprised that Rogue Warrior even made it to stores let alone with a $60 price tag. Games like Rogue Warrior make me wonder if the people who developed the game really even support it. How ... more. -

Spending my life as a self-proclaimed hater of "first person shooters" (FPSs if you're nasty), I have had to re-evaluate my stance on this genre more and more frequently in recent years. I mean, even though I do see the merit in your Halos and your Calls of Duties, I just don't find myself being attracted to these games like most of the people on my friends list are. But every once in a while alon... more. -
Brutal Legend

You know, I was not really interested in Brutal Legend at first. Granted, Tim Schafer is a brilliant game designer, having made games the defy genres and are considered among the best made, even if they did not sell well. It's just that I am not a fan of Jack Black. Sure, he can be funny when he is reigned in, but he often is not, and I figured with the game being M Rated, he would be allowed to r... more.

WET

I first saw WET when it was announced a while back and I wasn't very impressed. I thought it was a joke and I was positive it would be a flop or not even get published. Well, the day has come and WET has been released into the wild and boy did it exceed my expectations by far. WET reminds me a lot of Stranglehold, the emphasis is on slo-mo and acrobatic kills. Basically you do certain actions l... more.
